Glenn Trotter -- Ethical Potter & Raku Artist
I am a studio potter working from my residence in Prescott, Arizona. My pottery can be classified into two distinct groups, functional domestic stoneware and sculptural raku.
I have concentrated on raku sculpture over the past 10 years. I have developed a series of forms and surface qualities that serves the narrative element of my work.
In the past year I built a high fire kiln with the help of the Yavapai Clay Buddies Society. With this new kiln I have returned to my roots as an ethical potter. An ethical potter is one that makes utilitarian pottery that is sold at affordable prices. I have designed a line of domestic tableware and serving dish-ware that has been popular at crafts fairs this past year.
When asked which I prefer, the one of a kind raku sculptures or the production ware, I realize, they are all my children, and I cannot choose between them.
